Will a hospital notify police if something like meth shows up during a tox screen?
Question by Q P: Will a hospital notify police if something like meth shows up during a tox screen?
My girlfriend has pneumonia and we need to take her to the hospital.. But she’s refusing to go because she thinks that she could be arrested or reported if they see the meth in her system. I’m not condoning her use of meth or saying that I don’t think she should get help for that as well, but as far as actual legality; As long as she is not in possession of any drugs, is there still a chance that authorities would be notified if they happen to find it in a blood or urine test during the course of treatment?
She says the last time she used was yesterday morning, but I can’t tell if she’s still “under the influence”. Is it a problem if she is found to be under the influence?

Hospitals are forbidden to share any test results, unless ordered by a court. ( such as suspicion of DUI)
She is safe from being reported.
