What does Heroin Detox feel like?

Question by wisteriatrecay: What does Heroin Detox feel like?
I’ve seen a lot of people struggle with heroin addiction and try to kick the habit.

So I was wondering if anyone could either send me a few links, or give me any stories or info on how the withdrawal from heroin and the experience trying to break the habit was like. Either going cold turkey, actually getting medical help. I’ve tried looking up a few sites but they’ve all stumped me.

I appreciate this so much. Thanks a bunch in advance.

A while ago I had to kick heroin (along with cocaine), so I’ll give you my experience:

I quit cold turkey. For the first day I felt fine– I didn’t see what the fuss was about– but for the days after that, it was terrible. My bones hurt, my muscles hurt, my head hurt (think of a constant migraine), my nails hurt… everything that’s attatched to your body hurts. I didn’t feel like eating, and I tried to sleep it off. Needless to say, I was pretty depressed during that time. About a month and a half later, I started feeling like my old self, and now over a year later, I feel great.

Drugs may seem fun when you’re doing them, but trust me– they are terrible when you try to get off.
