Question by Baocie: Should there be rules against companies paying such young stars(Pre-adolescents) such large amounts of money?
People such as Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Brtiney Spears are extreme examples of children gone crazy….and earlier example would be Drew BArrymore and Macauley Culkin. Drew (who started becoming famous after starring in ET when she was only four or five years old) and Macauley (the star of Home Alone) both dabbled in drugs, and both eventually had to go to rehab…..for Drew, she eventually pulled her life back together (it helps when you have Steven Spielberg as your uncle) and is not a successful star….

Actually when large amounts of money are concerned they are not given to the child until they are 18, they are generally put in trusts often controlled by the parents! what happens next is what the parents do with the money, so if they spoil their kids with their own money before teaching them responsibilty or morals that is the parents fault (lindsay lohan) drew barrymore already came from a wealthy acting family and spent excessive amount of times in unhealthy atmospheres as a child, at celebrity parties, award shows etc where drugs and drink are readily available and there is little parental guidance, and in mcaulay culkins case, his father was horrible stage parent, and enjoyed the money he made off his kids, mcaulay disliked him so much that he “DIVORCED’ his parents at 17 which gave him the rights to his cash!
i dont think its the money aspect, i think its the celebrity aspect at a young age!
atmospheres that promote excess and an escape from reality!
a child is vulnerable in this atmosphere as “celebrity” is an incredibly isolating and lonely lifestyle, and when they grow up it is far more difficult to adjust and relate, and well grow up?

there are many wealthy familys who aren’t in the spotlight who have children who grow up just fine!
