The first 6 months of my relationship with my BF were very rough. He was always treating me badly and I always felt that he could have treated me a lot better than my ex’s. A lot of people would say that the things that he has done are signs of “emotional abuse” towards me. We were always arguing and he was always possessive and over-protective of me. He always needed to know who I was talking to, who called, wanted to know the pw to all my emails and facebook/myspace accounts. He really didn’t trust me, and also needed to be there with me if I was out with a guy friend.
There was this guy friend that I was really close to. I’ve known him since I was 13 and I am now 21. My BF tried to disconnect him from my life and it really upset me. So my friend came to visit me for a weekend and I lied to my BF, saying that I was out of town. It just made him not call me too constantly. During that weekend, I spent three days with my friend and I kissed him about 10 times, give or take.
I feel awful about it. I realized that I was only doing this because my friend would have been a safer choice for my parents to accept and would be a more secure choice for my future than my BF. I had no feelings for him whatsoever, even though he’s always treated me better.
I realized now more than ever that I really love my BF, and after the incident, I haven’t told him a thing. However, for some odd reason, our relationship has gotten a lot better and we are more understanding of each other. I have not had anyone to talk to about this, not even friends. I really don’t know what question I’m trying to ask… but I guess I need someone’s judgement on all of this.
I want to make it work with my BF and I believe that he can. I’m just scared that I am going to give all my myself to him again and for him to treat me bad again.
What should I do?
I always told myself that I would never cheat… and now I have.
