Question by MGK: DOS prompt help?
I’m in DOS for Windows Xp recovery. I’m trying to access the C: drive folder but I can’t. When the recovery console starts, it starts in C:\WINDOWS\

From what I know, all you have to do is type “Cd..” to get to the C: folder but it doesn’t work. It keeps saying that “The command is not recognized…type HELP”. Is there another way?

I’m trying to copy files from the Windows CD to the C: drive. The files are “ntldr” and “ntdetect.com”. System won’t boot without these files.

Sounds right. Try cd .. or chdir c:\
