alcohol relapse withdrawals?

Question by barron: alcohol relapse withdrawals?
I’m recovering from a two year alcohol addiction right now (sober since October 4) and im enjoying my sobriety, but because of my addictive personality i know im gonna relapse sooner or later. Before i got detoxed i was suffering some pretty bad withdrawals, so my question is would i get those same type of withdrawals after just one night of heavy drinking if/when i relapse. or will it take several months of the same heavy drinking schedule i was on before?

It is probable but not necessarily likely. The problem is once you start it will always be on your mind and that mental withdraw will start to get to you. You need to find another addiction to substitute the one you have. Find an addiction that will give you a natural high and away from the drinking crowd. Mine was the outdoors. I do rock climbing, backpacking, snowshoeing, and motorcycle riding. They all make my endorphin levels rise in a much healthier way and make me so tired that I just don’t go out at night much any more. That addiction is built inside you and you just need to control where you want to take it, my is to the edge of exploring all the fun stuff outside of town.
