need advice from someone who had similar experience?

Question by trista: need advice from someone who had similar experience?
ok about 2 years ago (together for 7 years) i lost the man i was supposed to marry to heroine addiction.i came home from work and he was dead no note no nothing just gone.i went all that therapy stuff because im the one that found him and it didn’t help and now i am at a loss for what to do. my therapist doesn’t t have any personal experience in this area i asked so now i am asking you all. i fought for 3 years to get him off it but heroine won, i lost. i know two years ago right? i am actually scared to get into another relationship because of this. what i am asking is is there a way to overcome this fear of losing someone again like this? i have lost too many friends and loved ones to drugs and alcohol i know i cant stop them but most are good people with a past they cant out run. but the incident with my ex really scared me ,people keep telling to get past it but its really hard to forget something like that. please if you have had to get past something like this please advise.
i do keep busy i went to culinary school for a while and i take care of my father who is sick and work and i am still taking some college courses busy isnt cutting it. is there a program of some sort that can help?
