Can i join the army with a long history of mental illness and other stuff?
Question by DrShields: Can i join the army with a long history of mental illness and other stuff?
So im 21, almost 22, and ive had depression when i was 16 for a few months. Then i relapsed at 18 and have been seeing a shrink up till now. According to his medical records i have a history of treatment resistant major depressive disorder, ADHD, alcohol abuse, drug abuse, suicidal thoughts, and cutting. I havent been on depression medication for about a year, only anxiety meds.
I also have a DUI for drugs (prescription) and i maxed out a bunch of credit cards and defaulted on them and my credit score is in the low 200s and I flunked out of college twice.
So…. with that history of mental illness, a DUI, poor credit, and poor academic performance will i have any shot of being able to enlist in the army?
No im not one of those crybaby depressed people its more of a boredom with life so dont say “the army will make you more depressed” or anything like that.
Will it help that im a brown skinned ex-muslim that can speak/understand Urdu and able to read Arabic?
If still no, will i have a shot if i stop seeing my shrink for 6 months/1yr and get off all meds since im better now, graduate college, and fix my credit?
