Why are Americans so obsessed with the myth of the so called “porn addiction”?
Question by lord100jack: Why are Americans so obsessed with the myth of the so called “porn addiction”?
If a person can be addicted to pornography, then a person can also become addicted to religion. By statistics alone, more people have committed violent crimes from becoming overly zealous about religion than people who have overindulged in erotica. Rape is a crime of violence and has more to do with society’s sexual repression upon the individual than on a permissive society’s unlimited access to erotic material. What serious, scientific studies have proven that there is even a causal link between viewing erotic materials and addictive compulsions? Those findings do not come from the hard sciences, but are merely the fodder of self proclaimed ministers that use that is a way to lure in their flock to tell them what they want to hear to rake out funds from their purses and wallets. Haven’t the so called righteous people of the cloth done enough damage to our society with their holier than thou attitudes and going around raping children in churches across our nation? There is no such thing as a porn addiction. It is no more true than the world is flat, the sun revolves around the earth, and there is anything above us except the sky. Heretofore, it is not a truth based upon empirical scientific evidence, but merely fairy tales of talking serpents and women formed from the ribs of men religious dogma.
