What can I do about my mom who is both bipolar and menopausal?

Question by Sophia: What can I do about my mom who is both bipolar and menopausal?
It’s awful, and she refuses to have anything to do with professional treatment: Drugs, counseling…

I’m thinking more like attitudes or directions the family can do to help her OR better deal with her.

Serious answers please!

Your in a rough situation.
I too live with a bipolar person, but a teen.
I am guessing that you are a teen?
If you are over 18 you may have some power.
She has to either threaten or harm herself, or someone else for her to be admitted to the
hospital. It sounds like it may be time. I am only guessing she has been in the hospital before?
Also that she has been on meds? When a bipolar person stops their meds it usually means they are getting or are in a manic phase. They feel almost super human and think they are cured and don’t need medicine or help.
For you and your family it would be really helpful for yourself to go to therapy to learn how to deal some. I know how hard it is. sometimes unbearable! I don’t know how your mom acts when she isn’t on meds. If you would like to write me please do.
At this point the most important thing is that everyone is safe. It is hard to reason with a bipolar person that is manic, you usually can’t as you probably know..
I suppose you can try to give her a hug, if she lets you near her.
My bipolar person can get violent ):
See a therapist who is very experienced with bipolar people would be the one to talk to. Or you can talk some to others like me who is probably living a similar life.
It’s no fun. My “person” well there is no way to calm him, talk him down, or make him go to counseling. I sometimes get so frustrated I just cry or yell at him. Sometimes he doesn’t remember what he said/did. I wonder if that is even true. oh boy. If you want please write me
