how can does my close friend quit using drugs?

Question by yourclouddomain: how can does my close friend quit using drugs?
he have been using meth for 7 years. He has not gone more than a month without in 6 years. he has tried cold turkey, changing friends, being broke, having people hang on to his money, staying home, changing his phone number, trying to get cut off from the people he gets it from, willpower, taking up other addictions, self help books, rehab, drug counsolors, etc. he is on disablity so he always has alot of free time, other than his son and the very small business he runs. when he first comes off he cant do anything thing for a month!!! and slowly gets better. his babies mama and fiancee does it too and she does not seem like she wants to quit. he will never tell the police anything. and he seems to always be able to find it. he has wanted to quit for 3-4 years now though and asked me for help. any suggestions? p.s. nothing he has allready tried is totally ruled out allready. but they havnt work to much in the past
he really wants to quit. I dont think he does it around his kids but I’m sure If he keeps it up he will get caught. His family watchs the kids alot. He has said that he wants to move really bad. I’ve talked to him alot about this. (hes kind of a winer). I know when he found out his girlfriend was going to have his kid he checked himself into rehab 4 times before the child was born. He never could stick it out though. He hates the idea of “a higher power” and also dispises the NA teachings. I think the only way he could quit is to move too and start his business elsewhere” any more thoughts

This is tough. He needs to change his whole environment. Switch to a different city, or even countries. It’s extremely difficult to acquire hard drugs in Kuwait or China. Once there, he needs to have a mission that deals with something he is passionate about to keep him busy. Something impossible..dream far.
In similar surroundings, it is easy to pick up old habits. But different surroundings help you adapt to ‘difference’.

I hope this option can help. He needs to have confidence he can quit.
