who do i turn to for help when the person who has wronged me is an elected official?
Question by christy k: who do i turn to for help when the person who has wronged me is an elected official?
i recently posted a question about my w2 being taken by my mother in law. i did not add however that she is the circut clerk of courts. i have been told that i can press charges however no one in this county will help me. what, should i do? this family has all of mine and my childrens stuff and they will not let me know where anything is my husband is strung out on meth, i cant afford a divorce yet and no one will help me. i left because one of his freinds threatened to have my throat slit over a coffee filter that i may have thrown away and i dont know why that would entail a killing but my husband would not defend me and i dont even know where all of furniture is or if i even have anything anymore they have taken everything. i do not care about the furniture as much as i do about my kids baby books, family photos, and things like that but NOBODY in this county will help me because of who his mom is. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

Try legal aid. EVERYONE is subject to the law regardless where they work. Start with your local CPS or DHS by asking ” by what legal authority was your child taken”. I fully understand her wanting to get the baby out of an unsafe environment, however, that does not justify her taking your child without going through any legal process.
Get your social service agencies involved, that’s what they get paid for.
If someone refuses to do their job in an official capacity, document.
