Outpatient drug addiction programs: These kinds of programs are prescribed if the patient can stay sober without coming to the clinic or the rehab centre every day. This generally takes place after the drug addict undertakes the detoxification procedure and is relieved of his or her physical dependence.
The addict comes to the treatment center for several hours a week during which he undergoes group or behavioral therapy. Additionally, the addict has one on one sessions with a professional counselor during which they work on various emotional issues that are influencing the patient. The counselor helps the patient work through these issues in a comprehensive manner. These individual or group sessions help reduce the likelihood of relapse.
Residential treatment programs: This specific program is the most intensive kind of drug addiction program. In this program, the addict is taken out of his usual living situation to remove him from entrenched habits that encourage his addiction. Detoxification accompanied by group and behavioral therapies are some of the treatments given under this program.
