Training 4

Canine Assisted Therapy, aka CAT, was founded by Debra Berger and Joanne Jurgle, both lifelong dog lovers and first-hand witnesses to the transformational power of canine therapy. Debra and Joanne started the CAT organization with the sole mission to provide a network of qualified, dependable, caring Therapy Teams committed to delivering a therapeutic benefit through the use of dogs to both children and adults who need comfort, companionship, or the unconditional love that only a dog can provide. CAT typically visits places such as nursing homes, childrens hospitals, hospice, and rehab facilities; where ever there are people that need to feel better. The Teams (Handler/Therapy Dog) visit locations at least once a week and all of our Teams are certified and insured. All dogs must have their Canine Good Citizen Certification in addition to going through and passing the CAT Dog 9 Element test. In addition, all dogs must go through a series of evaluations and a 30 day probation period before being awarded the CAT Dog Certification. Many of our volunteers start their training from puppy stages, although its not necessary. You can check out the test and start training now so that you can Make Your Dog a CAT Dog today!
