Some of my family members and I want to write a letter to the judge so he will mandate drug/alcohol treatment for a member of our family. She has five dui’s but only three on record. She was driving drunk the day after this incident and she never learns anything. Her attorney says he can get her off with four mo. home confinement and they always just give her a slap on the wrist. Will the judge take our feelings into consideration or is writing just a waste of time?

It would not hurt to write. No one know this individual better than her own family members. However, the judge may or may not take your suggestion into consideration.
