Working as a drug rehabilitation counselor?

Question by Meee. x]: Working as a drug rehabilitation counselor?
I’ve always wanted a job that would help people, but I could never set my mind on anything that I was truly interested in. Now, I have never and hopefully will never do drugs. But drugs and their effects on people intrigue me just so much. I have no idea why, but it’s so interesting to see how one little pill or one injection of something can change a person so much. So I thought of being a drug abuse psychologist!

But would that require a lot of schooling, like a doctorate degree? Do you think it would be a hard job to take, considering you would see patients at their worst all the time? Do you think it pays decently? And also, besides a rehabilitation center, where else could I work with that?
