With the following charges… what is my nephew likely to be looking at?
Question by James W: With the following charges… what is my nephew likely to be looking at?
Ok, here’s the story… my 21-year old nephew has done the following… “borrowed” his dad’s truck and was involved in an accident, of which he left the scene… he was arrested and released for a court date to be announced. He was then arrested a couple of months later with possesion of Crack Cocaine… was not his, but it was in his house, brought in by a user that overdosed (survived and was also the local Sherrif’s daughter)… he served a number of weeks in jail until he was given a sentence of 5 years probation. Then, (I didn’t prophess that this was a smart kid) upon his release was promptly (the next week) arrested for DUI for which he posted bond and is awaiting a court date… This dumba$$ is now looking at all of this coming to a head when all of these charges meet… in the state of Texas, what is he likely looking at when all is said and done?

My ex had an accident in which she was drunk…..fled the scene……tue\rned herself in later , then got mouthy with the cops. Now the problem he is facing is trhe fact that he is on probation and got the dui. He will more than likely be looking at jail time. Probably counceling will be involved. He may get off on comm. service with a good lawyer but it will be hard. I would say 6 months to a year in jail.
