will my boyfriend lose his job if he goes to rehab for a drug addiction?

My boyfriend wants to seek help for his drug addiction but he doesn’t want to lose his job. He would be in rehab for about a month. Will he lose his job or is it illegal for them to fire him we live in Illinois.
