Why does my 20 year old brother have high blood pressure?

Question by Blaire Ryan: Why does my 20 year old brother have high blood pressure?
My younger brother is everything I wish I could be but don’t want to work that hard to get there. He eats balanced meals with lots of fruits, vegetables, carbs and protein. He works out almost every day and has very little body fat, big muscles and a washboard stomach. He doesn’t drink, smoke cigarettes, or do drugs. But for some reason, his blood pressure is very high. It moves around a lot, but two days ago he woke up and it was 135 over 85, the day before that it was 168 over 95, and today it was 163 over 95.

This seems to be very unusual, he has seen a few doctors who don’t seem to know what could cause it, and they usually ask “are you taking methamphetamines?” He’s not. That would be nice, because then at least he’d know what to do to fix it.

He’s been on a few different medications that I don’t know well enough to write their names, but they aren’t working.

One suggestion is sleep apnea, he wore a monitor the other night, but they say it’s a month to get the results.
