Shocking…he wrote in his first memior about smoking weed, doing some blow, would’ve tried heroine save for the possible vein bubble. His own words, not some right wing whacko…
“Why is it reporters who were willing to pursue Bristol Palin, who isn’t on the ballot, somehow think it is unseemly to ask Sen. Obama tough questions about his drug use? Oh, that was a long time ago, they’ll argue. But a 1986 arrest for driving while impaired by Gov. Palin’s husband — not the candidate — is somehow worthy of extensive front-page coverage?
The double standard is shocking — but perhaps not to Sen. Obama. In his memoir, he gives the most telling explanation of how he has gotten away with avoiding discussions of his drug use. It was the same technique he used on his mother when she confronted him in his senior year of high school: “I had given her a reassuring smile and patted her hand and told her not to worry, I wouldn’t do anything stupid. It was usually an effective tactic, another of those tricks I had learned: People were satisfied so long as you were courteous and smiled and made no sudden moves.”
With two months left to Election Day, it will be a test of the media’s integrity to see if they devote as much time delving into Sen. Obama’s drug use as they did into Bristol Palin’s sex life.”

Pete – I’m not asking Obama to discuss anything. I’m asking the media to be fair. Too much to ask for though since they want their boy elected, lol. Just making a point.
As for some of you others talking about Sarah as a parent. Let’s not be stupid and ASSume that had sex ed been rammed down Bristol’s throat at 14 that she wouldn’t have gotten pregnant. How many kids know the risks of drugs and alcohol and still smoke dope and drink? I’m sure Sarah is a horrible parent, that’s why her son has decided to take the absolute last possible resort (according to liberals) or is it because he’s stupid and uneducated (I can’t remember the exact liberal tagline) and is going to Iraq. Man, she must suck since she didn’t tell him he’s better off running to Canada.
Oops, I’m sorry, I’m not a drug user, so I didn’t realize there was a distinction between an addict and a “recreational user”. Is recreational a way to justify being an acceptable drug user? Make it sound cool? Nice. At least I learned one thing today, there are terms used to make cocaine users sound cool.
mramell4 – sorry, I didn’t realize Cindy was running for anything. Silly me. Why whenever someone talks about Obama, they talk about McCain’s wife, or Palin’s daughter? Why not compare Obama with Huckabee’s third cousin’s great uncle? Why do liberals keep trying to compare Obama’s disasterous choices of actions, friends and acquaintances with everyone except the other candidates? Hmmmm…
dang rehoboth – I guess you and your pals doing drugs in college made it right, huh? Lemme see, early 80s, oh, yah, that’s right, I was busy spending my time serving my country in the military, not doing drugs like apparently everyone else was.

It’s a shame that during my 8 years in the service I had more black friends than white ones, and one of the only people I’ve stayed in contact with from that era (and we still visit each other now and then) is black. Race bait all you want, it’s “people like you” that keep the divisions live and well. Keep up the good work!
