When I lived in California, the only people who were missing teeth were meth addicts or homeless. But since I moved to Tennessee, I noticed that a lot of people just let their teeth rot out of their heads. They seem fairly normal, but I can’t wrap my mind around why they would neglect ordinary dental hygiene long enough for that to happen.

Maybe this is some southern thing that I’ll never understand, like nascar and biscuits and gravy (ugh. bland, fat-sauce with bits of sausage.) Can someone help me understand this?
