Why do people try to “prove” proven facts wrong using religious belief or superstition as irevocable “fact”?

Question by Mr Trash: Why do people try to “prove” proven facts wrong using religious belief or superstition as irevocable “fact”?
It boggles my mind how many people believe many absolutely unbelievable myths because “it’s in the Bible”…

Some believe that the Earth is flat (Flat Earth Society) because the Bible mentions the “4 corners of the Earth”.

Though we have planes they can get in to SEE the truth for themselves, they still believe the “Bible” or “Quran” etc. is nothing but truth?

How can this be?

Why do people continue to be deluded by outrageous claims and beliefs that are so obviously wrong?

I am appalled when I think… oh no!!!
Do they really believe this?

Say it isn’t so?

And so I leave it to you to help me decide… Why?

It’s not really something you need to DECIDE; it’s something to DISCOVER.

For your answer, go Google “cognitive dissonance”.
