Why are others so quick to condemn people who are alcoholics or drug addicts?

Question by Mongo: Why are others so quick to condemn people who are alcoholics or drug addicts?
Addiction is a disease. http://www.nida.nih.gov/about/welcome/aboutdrugabuse/chronicdisease/
So many people, particularly in the liberal posts, cite drug use and alcohol when speaking of Rush, the President and others. This is like denigrating someone who has diabetes or cancer. Addicts do not choose to be addicts.
And, still the ignorance that it is a disease continues. What a pity. I am a conservative and not trying to spin some liberal philosophy.

Addiction is disease yes…

But you can’t deny that it’s a disease that can be fought.

Addiction is not indicative, but is suggestive of someone who is inherently weak. Kinda like Jerry Fallwell, George “Pass the Coke Tray” Bush, and Rush Limbaugh.
