What wine (brand/varietal) would help “wean” someone onto other wines?
Question by Jonathan W: What wine (brand/varietal) would help “wean” someone onto other wines?
My girlfriend does not like wine, and I love it, and so it’s something we can’t enjoy together. She complains that it tastes like medicine, which to be fair, I thought the first time I drank wine as well; but I remember that in time, I was able to appreciate it. However, I’ve had a hard time getting her to try.
Recently, she expressed an interest, but knowing her, it would have to be sweet, soft, fruity, low in alcohol (taste anyway), etc. I don’t want to give her wine coolers or boone’s farm, but something decent that would help introduce her palate to perhaps more complex wines (that is, the ones she calls medicine).
I hope this makes sense. The only thing I ask is that it be something under $ 15/bottle. I know that might be asking too much, but I can’t afford to experiment with expensive wines if she won’t like them.
Thanks.
