what shows up on blood tests that are standard for depression diagnosis?

Question by kelby: what shows up on blood tests that are standard for depression diagnosis?
My counselor has referred me to a psychiatrist to be officially diagnosed for depression. I know that doctors sometimes run lab work to rule out other causes. I am concerned about this because recently I took some ADHD medication for academic purposes without a perscription. Will that show up on my lab work? Please do not lecture me about non prescription use, it was a one time thing for a study session for an upcoming test.

If you took the medication maybe 48 hours before the blood test, then it should most likely be undetectable.

ADHD Med’s are speed… Speed is out of your system in about 24 hours. You’d be more likely to pop for heroin if you ate a poppy seed bagel in the last 72 hours.

But the important part is that you need to understand that it’s doubtful they’ll run a drug test on you… People have this strange idea that “Tests” cover EVERYTHING!!! They don’t…

They test for a specific set of things and that is IT…

If they’re looking for marijuana and you don’t smoke weed but do tons of meth, they’ll not know about the meth because they’re not testing for meth… They’re only testing for weed.

If they’re testing for liver enzymes, they won’t know that you’ve been main lining heroin because they’re looking for liver enzymes.

They should tell you specifically what they’re testing for… And that’s ALL they’re testing for.
