What should I do about this daycare?
Question by Neffers: What should I do about this daycare?
So my daughter is 9 months old and she attends daycare M-F a total of about 25 hours all together while I attend college full time and my husband has a full time job as well. I’ve never had a problem with the place as they’ve always been really friendly and seem to take good care of the kids there. Well, today I picked my daughter up and she had a red mark and the beginnings of a bruise on her knee- right above her kneecap. I asked one of the girls if she fell or something and the girl was like “no she didn’t fall” and quickly changed the subject. I understand kids are kids and they are bound to get bruises. I have a 5 year old who gets himself hurt on a regular basis. I’m not overreacting about the bruise- but the way she said “no” and then her demeanor afterwards leads me to believe that she did in fact get hurt due to some kind of negligence. (which I did take a few pictures of her leg when we got home just in case) How should I approach this? I’m not jumping to conclusions and assuming someone is abusing her because I really don’t think that’s the case. They have rocking chairs in there and if I had to guess I would think maybe she got her leg under there and someone sat down and smashed her leg. I understand accidents happen. My question is- should I bring this up again? Should I talk to the director about it? I mean her reaction is freaking me out a little bit and I know if I worked there I would be sure to let a parent know if something like that happened. Like I said- I’m not assuming it’s “abuse” and I don’t really want to have to pull her out of there- the whole situation has me feeling wierd and I don’t know how to go about bringing it up without sounding confrontational.
Any advice would be great.
Thanks. 🙂 (and sorry for the long post)
