What should I do about my boyfriends cocaine use?

Question by Living by the Bay – SF: What should I do about my boyfriends cocaine use?
A year ago, my boyfriend injured his back, & it required surgery that required year + of recovery. He began hanging out with old friends & I began to suspect cocaine use. He began to constantly have a stuffy nose/cold, he has lost considerable weight, and his personality was different. It was true, & I pitched a fit, and told him to stop hanging out with his friends, and to stop using it. Today, he still has the runny nose and he is unwilling to stop hanging out with them, except he doesn’t hang out when I’m home. Thursday, he began to claim there were bugs in his hair. I want him out, but I’m his only income. I helped him apply for disability, and it will likely be approve this month. He continues to deny chronic drug use, but promises it’s only once a week or so. I am embarrassed to talk to my friends, and I would appreciate your help. Should I throw him out of our house? Or, should I wait a month for his disability to begin? Finally, Do you think I should call his family?
I’ve asked him to get help too, but he denies there is a problem.
Good News!! He has agreed to immediately stop all contact with his friends, and he will begin substance abuse counseling. It was tough to hold my ground, but I did it.

You should call his family and do an intervention with them. If that doesn’t help then kick him out.
