What does this mean and is it stupid?

Question by Monica: What does this mean and is it stupid?
I saw it on my friends blog. I was wondering what it means, and help?

“In a book I once read there was like an “Ask Annie” column. The kid in the book asked something like, “I act different around certain people, not totally different, but I feel like I can’t be myself 100%.” The Annie person replied with something like, “You may feel like your being fake, but most people do this and feel like this and you don’t even realize it. Perhaps the people who you feel like you can’t be yourself around also feel like they can’t be themselves around you either.”

“This really made me think for awhile because I often feel like the boy does. I would just say screw it, who cares, I’m going to be myself regardless of who I’m around. But, it’s hard because I don’t exactly know who I am completely. I feel like there is so many parts of me and I don’t quit know how to put them all together. And I think since most people are so naturally self-absorbed they think theres nothing else to a person besides what the person shows you. And most of the times people only show you bits and glimpses of who they are. And a lot of those bits and glimpses could be deceitful.”

It’s not stupid but it is true to a degree. Most people don’t ever really reveal their whole selves to anyone. Have a few areas left for yourself that no one knows about you will keep them guessing and make you less vulnerable. You never show all your cards to quote a poker phrase.
