what does the formation of CPP mean?
Question by Atrina: what does the formation of CPP mean?
I’m working on a paper using this scholarly article:
Straiko, M. et al. (2007). Treatment With a Serotonin-Depleting regimen of MDMA
Prevents Conditioned Place Preference to Sex in Male Rats. Behavioral
Neuroscience 121, 586-593.
And it mentions the formation of CPP several times, but I dont know what it means. I’ve tried looking online and still to no avail. Here is some of the context under which it is used:
“treatment of rats with MDMA reduced formation of CPP to alcohol, an outcome that is similar to that observed for the formation of CPP to sex in this study.”
“The failure of MDMA-treated rats to form CPP to sex may be due to a long-term effect of MDMA (e.g., 5-HT depletion) in diminishing the rewarding properties of sex. The neural circuits involved in sex-induced CPP are not clearly understood, and it is currently unknown whether 5-HT is involved in the acquisition or expression of sex-induced CPP. ”
“The results of the present study raise the possibility that sex-induced release of 5-HT may also be important for the formation of CPP. ”
No formal or informal definitions were presented in the article as far as I can tell.
please help, I always give out best answer points! I will also need some kind of source if possible.
Thanks!

Cell penetrating peptides (CPPs) are short peptides that facilitate cellular uptake of various molecular cargo (from small chemical molecules to nanosize particles and large fragments of DNA). The “cargo” is associated with the peptides either through chemical linkage via covalent bonds or through non-covalent interactions. The function of the CPPs are to deliver the cargo into cells, a process that commonly occurs through endocytosis with the cargo delivered to the endosomes of living mammalian cells.
