hey my name is Daniel and i am going to a treatment center tommarow for a assement. they have said to be prepared to stay atleast 10 days if i am admited to inpatient. does anyone have any advice. i am nervous as hell about this cuz this is the first time ive admitted to haveing a problem. if u have any advice please email me at [email protected]

mean cruel nasty nurses, a psychiatrist who speaks very poor English, sharing a room with one, two or even three other guys, watered down ‘therapy’ groups, being treated like a criminal by staff, being stripped searched upon admission to the inpatient unit, you strip naked in a room with another male staff member and then you turn around and part your butt cheeks, this is called a ‘safety check’, groups, groups and more groups and most will be run by some 23 year old little girl who thinks she knows everything and her name will be Kylie or something other cute name, you won’t get anything out of this experience

if you are highly motivated you can do this with A.A. and an experienced sponsor through A.A. and it won’t cost you a thing, you will preserve your human dignity

these inpatient things take a cookie cutter approach to addictions and rarely help

the stress of being there is greater than the stress of drinking!

go to A.A. find a good sponsor, work the steps, OR find a good private practice counselor and work with this person
