What can we do? Does anyone have any experience with a problem similar to this?

Question by tamjivey: What can we do? Does anyone have any experience with a problem similar to this?
I just began to get child support 2 years ago in the form of SSD child benefit. My sons father has added new baby to his SSD and we received a letter that his payment will be cut 50%.This is the 2nd time his father has put his name on the birth certtificate of a new baby by this same woman. The first time he did this the baby was not even the same race as he(not his).He is 48 yrs, she is much younger. He is a recovered IV drug and crack cocaine user. She still uses drugs and has not even lived with him. They have never married. Just because the baby is same race this time, he has done this. My daughter is 23 and never got any support from him and my son will only get this check until he graduates high school in a couple more months. We were counting on this money for his graduation clothes and cap and gown pics. It doesn’t seem fair. There has been no paternity test, he just put his name on the birth certificate at the hospital and sent it in to SS with a claim.

there is nothing you can do, you have no legal right to ask for a paternity test for a child that is not yours. If his name is on the birth certificate then the child is legally entilted to those rights. They cut the benefits when a new child is added so people do not keep having kids to get more money, this has nothing to do with your case but it is the law. Its sad for your child, but there is nothing you can do.
