about two yrs ago my bf used to drink heavily. he was a total horror when he drank. i didnt know him back then, we started dating when he had almost a year clean. a few weeks ago he had “a coupla beers”. some weeks later he had another “coupla beers”. the other nite he came to my house smelling like he’d been drinking. he told me he “had a beer”.

i guess there are people who can drink socially after they recovered from addiction/drinking problem but i dont know if he’s one of them. that he came to my house smelling like alcohol i thought was bad & i’m taking it as a sign but i dont know what to think. is this all a sign he’s about to start drinking again? or am i worrying for nothing? or should i just trust that its only temporary bcz he’s under alotta stress right now?

Sweetheart, he’s already started. You need to be extremely firm and put your foot down. Either he stops drinking or you leave him. I am the product of an alcoholic and let me tell you, you don’t want to accidentally or plan to bring a child into the world with him if he’s drinking nor do you want to continue a relationship. He will guilt you and make you feel like you are the one doing wrong when it is entirely his disease/problem that is the source.

I think you need to speak with a professional for the best possible advice.
