Washington State Medical Marijuana Initiative I-692

In Washington initiatives takes effect 30 days after they are voted on. This means that this initiative went into effect on December 3, 1998. Qualifying patients may use the law for an affirmative defense in court if ever charged with a marijuana charge.

On November 3rd 1998 Washington State Initiative I-692 passed by a 59% vote by the residents of Washington. • Hepatitis C

• Any disease that has symptoms of nausea

Patients may possess no more than a 60 day supply at any one given time. It has been defined by 15 plants in any stage of growth. Patients are also allowed to possess 24 ounces at a time. There are provisions that allow patients to exceed this amount if shown by a doctor’s recommendation that it is needed and appropriate.
