used to\use to ENGLISH?
Question by Naughty_by_Nature: used to\use to ENGLISH?
I know that there’s a big difference between “used to do” – to talk about past habits or states and “is used to doing” – to talk about something that you are now familiar with.
But an American told me that “I used to smoke. Now I do not smoke”” is INCORRECT!!! He said I should say “I use to smoke” instead… HOW COME???
This rule says another thing!!!

And I`m not sure about making questions:
Nick, did you USE to go swimming when you were a student?
OR
Nick, did you USED to go swimming when you were a student?
I`m not sure if I should transform “used” into “use” when I make a question with “did” because “used to” is a phrase…
Hope it makes sense, lol
