Upclose Look At A Red Fox Saved From Certain Death

Sicap Industries supports wildlife rehabilitation, and this little red fox named Cherokee is our latest success. Cherokee was found nearly dead about 6 months ago with the worst case of mange any vet has seen. He had bleeding scabs everywhere and almost no fur. He couldn’t walk and he couldn’t feed himself. Our veterinarian gave prescribed medicine, but it was almost impossible to apply it to his skin without stressing him out. At first it took two people to hold him down, and one to apply the medicine. Then my mother, who runs our rehab center asked me to help give Cherokee his medicine. We were all shocked to learn that Cherokee and I had a special bond. The first time we met, he allowed me to apply his medicine. I am the only person Cherokee lets touch him, and this video is our final goodbye. Cherokee is finally well enough to be introduced back into the wild. He will be housed in another rehab facility where he will live with other foxes over the winter and then released back into the wild in early spring. I hate to see him go, but it feels so good to know he’s getting another chance at life.
