I have asked this already so sorry if you have seen this but I wanted to clarify my situation a little more. Also I cannot stop stressing about this and need answers. So I got a conditional offer for an engineering internship with a pharmaceutical company and I passed all background checks including the drug screening (urine test and I know I passed because I have touched marijuana ONCE in the past 20 months, but the one time was a little over 8 months ago. So along with the screen we were given a questionaire asking three question, if ever used marijuana and when was the last time, if ever used coke and when was the last time, if ever used any other illegal drugs and whens the last time. I said no to coke and other drugs because I have never touched the stuff, but I am just an honest person so I answered truthfully that I did try some marijuana a little over 8 months ago, one time, in an abnormal situation. I elaborated also that I in no way use drugs, I am top of my engineering college class and an abusers couldn’t be on that level, I would provide the last screening I took a year ago that came clean and any more screenings they needed. I ran it past some people though adn all I am getting is negative responses. Now I can’t help but think lying there is worse…there is even a form I had to sign that pretty much siad (and this was regarding criminal offense and use of any hard drugs ever like heroin) that saying yes isn’t precludment to employment but lying would be terms of instnat termination if ever found out. Any managers or anyone in HR have any light to shed on this…did I completed screw my golden opportunity, or will they appreciate the honesty and look at is a college student runing into a bad situation . Let me state that they are not a zero tolerance organzation and like stated previous still give consideration to previous drug users. I felt it was better to be honest there, I know I passed my mandatory urine screeening (also if they were really concerned with drug abuse from that long ago wouldnt they administer hair tests?) I don’t find out until wednesday the results but any words from people with expereince would be much appreciated. Thank you..

A one time use of marijuana isn’t worth mentioning. I doubt it would leave enough trace to show on a hair follicle test.
You passed your drug test. That is all that counts.

P.S. – Most employers that send an applicant to do the “drug test” actually intend to hire that person. Only hurdle remaining: Passing the Drug Test.

It is simply too expensive to pay for the drug test on a bunch of applicants and then “waste” the money on 3/4 of them because there aren’t enough positions available.
