Tiger Woods Press Conference Today – April 5, 2010

Tiger Woods holds a press conference today talking as much about golf as he does about the scandal. April 5, 2010

He talks about the police report and about his stitches on his lip. He deals with looking at himself in a light he has never really imagined before.

Tiger Woods held a press conference at Augusta National Golf Course. This is where the Masters Tournament is going to be held this week. Another even Tiger held was tightly controlled, but this one seems more real, a bit more unstaged.

This is the first time the media has a real chance to grill Woods on what happened after the secrets were all exposed. He got a good boost to do the press conference which really surprised him.

In February, Tiger admitted to multiple affairs and has let out that he has been in rehab trying to fix this situation. It seems like a quick move to be already in rehab. I think a lot of it is pressure from his endorsements. Who knows if this is just for public appeasement or if he really thinks he has a problem.

Some think it is sexual addiction rehab which should take about one and a half months to complete.

He has also apologized to some golfers in the press conference. He also reports on the status of the SUV accident that spurred the

Tiger Woods also addressed questions about Dr. Anthony Galea. Galea is under investigation for possibly providing athletes with HGH. During the press conference today, Woods said he has never taken HGH, and that Galea’s visit to him was to get plasma treatments on his blood following his knee surgery in 2008. According to Woods, he tore his Achilles tendon that December.

ESPN will broadcast the Masters’ first two rounds on Thursday and Friday. CBS will broadcast the weekend rounds. Whether or not it is true, CBS has said they will not overlook the scandal as they broadcast the Masters. CBS News and Sports President Sean McManus said on Monday that “this year Tiger’s story is a major factor in the golf tournament and we are going to cover it fully.”
