Teenage Sister Who Raises HELL?
Question by NiNi: Teenage Sister Who Raises HELL?
I have no clue what to do with her! I’m 20 and she is 16. She is very disrespectful, sneaky, and has a mouth like no other. She’s only happy when she’s getting what she wants. Every time I try to even talk with her she starts an argument. Everything I say is wrong.
I try to talk to her as an older sister, and help her out, but she only ignores me or throws it in my face that I’m the “special” or “loved” child. I’ve always had it thrown in my face that I was smarter and got to do more things. So, I stopped mentioning my good grades and tried to help her study, but she didn’t want that from me.
My dad works offshore, she plays him against my mother to see who she can get more from. She’s called the police saying she’s “abused” and she’s really not. She’s run away. We’ve sent her to counseling, church camps, the priest, everything we can think of! I can’t stand to live with her anymore! She’s so hateful! I don’t know what to do!
My parents are useless at correcting her.
CONTINUES…one will give a punishment and the other will feel bad for her, so they’ll tell her she’s not punished. So she basically gets away with it! But it can’t be my parents fault, because then I would have turned out the same way, right? I’m just at a loss of what to do? I can’t even stand to look at her anymore!
Everyone said it was a phase that she’d grow out of, but she’s been like this since 6th grade and she’ll be a senior in high school this upcoming year…
I’m 20 and live at home because I’m going to school for pre-med…which means that I’m at school from 8-6 everyday, and unless I want to take out a student loan the size of Texas, it’s cheaper to live at home.
Thanks for the advice, we try tough love, but she’s resentful…at this very moment she’s in her room screaming at the top of her lungs because she didn’t get her way and my dad corrected her…
AGHHH!

Why are you still living at home at 20? Move. That will get rid of the problem.
