6 Month Jail Term for Illegal Diet Pill Seller

A 44-year old man has been hit with a 6- for supplying unlicensed pills illegally. The man was found guilty of using his internet site to supply slimming pills containing ephedrine, which sold as an unlicensed preparation is a chargeable offence under the Medicines Act.

David Green, of Wickersley, Rotherham, was offering the pills on his website and through online auction sites. He pleaded guilty at Sheffield Crown Court to advertising and selling an unlicensed medication and possession of a medicine with intent to place it on the market without the required license.

The Medicine and Healthcare Regulatory Authority firs t became interested in Mr. Green when he ignored their requests for compliance with medicines regulations. He continued to sell products illegally, until eventually the MHRA raided his property.
