Sydney police bust alleged interstate ICE smuggling ring
Police have arrested and charged five people, including a heavily pregnant woman, in relation to an alleged syndicate using drug mules to smuggle crystal methamphetamine (Ice) between Sydney and Perth on domestic airline flights. Officers from the Region Enforcement Squad (RES) based at Surry Hills formed Strike Force Royalist in September to investigate the supply and trafficking of a large amount of drugs between New South Wales and Western Australia. Amongst those arrested was a 25-year-old woman, an alleged syndicate principle who is eight months pregnant. She was taken to the Liverpool Police Station and charged with supply commercial quantity of a prohibited drug. A search of her home allegedly uncovered 10 kilograms of a substance believed to be Ice and 600 grams of illegal precursor powder.
