Study Shows Ted Williams Had Less Than a Ten Percent Chance of Staying Clean and Sober

Over the last 18 months, the Number 12 Foundation has followed 20 alcoholics and addicts in recovery who have either returned from prison or have come off the street as a homeless man, like Ted Williams. According to Jeff Christian, Founder and CEO of the Number 12 Foundation, “of those who went to live with a friend or family member or found an apartment or house to live in on their own, more than 90% relapsed while 50% of those who went into some sort of transitional housing are still clean and sober.”
Christian continues, “individuals like Ted Williams need transitional housing, they just can’t be forced to address family issues, a job, and their recovery right away, it’s just too much. They need supervision, a curfew, drug testing, counseling, and mandatory 12 step meetings to survive.”
