Should we have an intervention?

Question by Amelia J: Should we have an intervention?
My mom called me today because she wants to set up an intervention for my brother. He is 20 years old and smokes marijuana. I am 100% against drug use of any kind but a few friends that I have spoken to have said that it is not a big deal because he is not doing “serious” drugs. I think that minor drugs lead to “serious” drugs by the way… At any rate I was on this website and stage 1 is:
Ensure that the person in question indeed is in need of a drug intervention.

I just do not know if we should do it now or let it get worse or just pray that this is a phase. Any suggestions?

He is lying to you and himself when he says marijuana is not a “serious” drug. Its got such a hold on him now that he can’t quit. He can’t live without the high it brings. He needs an intervention all right, but sadly, even if he were forced to get clean, he’d backslide the very first opportunity he got.
