At birth she had half the Kyuubi sealed into her right eye and a little over 4 months later she had half of Shukaku sealed into the same eye thus resulting in half of her eye being shukaku’s and half kyuubi’s. She is a fairly introspective girl which starkly contrasts with her overly hyper active 1 day younger brother Naruto Uzumaki. She was raised mostly in Kumogakure but also in Konohakure where she stayed with mainly the Hyuuga clan but also for half a year with the Uchiha clan. And Sunagakure where she meets in fairly literal terms her “other half” of shukaku Gaara along with Yashamaru, Temari, and Kankuro. Her only living relative besides Naruto is her aunt, Shouko who is very high end and prestigious and never takes part in raising Katlaya because she thinks it will be “a waist of valuable time”. Kumogakure is a mostly military based system ruled by a 12 year old. You are enrolled in the academy by the time you learn to talk and become a gennin by age 5. You become a chunnin by age 8 and hopefully a jounin by 10 if you dont make jounin you have to repeat the academy all over again starting from day one.
