Question by : Please help am I bipolar?
I am a 26 year old male. I recently started a job which for the most part I hate. On Sunday nights I feel sick to my stomach. One minute I’m fine and the next I just don’t wanna live anymore. I don’t know if I’m manic depressant I do feel ok the one second and horrible the next but I never feel like I can conquer the world which I hear I’d what happens. I used to be on depression medicine but I stopped because I felt better and until recently when I started this job I was for the most part ok. Please help

Start taking your anti-depressant again. Your symptoms coincided with you stopping your meds. A lot of patients with mood disorder stop taking their medication because they feel better, not realizing it’s the medication is what is making them feel well. Good luck.

I couldn’t say but it sounds like anxiety triggered your depression and depression & anxiety go hand in hand. For me, when I am more depressed my anxiety is worse and when my anxiety is bad I get more depressed. I’ve had a job where I felt sick with worry every day because I didn’t want to go to work (b/c the managers were nasty). Mood swings aren’t only characteristic of bipolar.

“Psychiatric causes of mood swings
Mood swings may be caused by psychiatric conditions including:
Bipolar disorder
Borderline personality disorder (disorder characterized by unstable relationships)
Depression
Intermittent explosive disorder (disorder characterized by extreme anger)
Substance abuse”

anxiety disorders

Think about the reason you hate your job. Is it a manager/your managers? Coworkers? The type of work you’re doing is stressful or boring or you just hate it? Dealing with customers is difficult? If it’s that you feel uncomfortable going to work because you aren’t treated right think about getting another job. If the type of work is the reason think about taking a different position or find another job you think you might like a little better. Though I’m not sure what kind of job you have..
