Pharmacist lost his license…?

Question by corianne2003: Pharmacist lost his license…?
My fiance recently lost his pharmacy license due to substance abuse. I was unaware of his problem but we are working on helping him. He is going to Narcotics Anonymous meetings and outpatient rehab. He is almost fully recovered and wants to get back into the business as soon as he gets his license back. Under Ohio law he will be able to get his license back in a year. However, we are not sure if he can get it back a year from the date of suspension (January 2006) or a year from the date of his hearing before the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy which isn’t until August. Would anyone know how soon he can get it back? The loss of income is really hurting us financially and he needs to get back to work as soon as possible.

Presumably, the board can keep his license suspended for as long as they want. But, to answer your specific question, suspension generally means from the time it was suspended.

Did he receive a formal notification of suspension?

That should tell you the effective date and duration.
