OCE Discovery 2010 Oral Presentation Contest Matt Simone McMaster University Topic: Recreational Drug Use and Abuse My research is directed towards the implementation of pharmaceutical data into mainstream education programs. I will specifically address the issues of recreational drug use and abuse related to the various methods of drug delivery as well as drug pharmacology. My research is important to both industries and the community because currently there is an obscene amount of misinformation related to drug use both in the media and society in general. Myths and exaggerations of drug use not only cause confusion to the general public but set the stage for dangerous complications when regarding potentially hazardous substances. My level of commitment to the project is substantial for several reasons. My academic focus is chemical engineering and pharmaceuticals research. I have in-depth experience in psychopharmacology so that I can provide accurate, current knowledge on the aspects of both legal and illegal recreational drugs. Thank-you and I hope to be able to share more of my work in the future.
