Obama and Crack Cocaine Laws

Question by Gamecock1964: Obama and Crack Cocaine Laws
I recently had a avid follower of barack obama tell me the reason he was voting for Obama was because Obama was going to take racism out of Law Enforcement. He claimed Obama pledged to do this by making cocaine laws less racist by lowering the penalty for possession of crack cocaine(now called cocaine base in law enforcement) because it offends people to call it crack cocaine). Here is a solution to the crack cocaine/racism issue..don’t use drugs and don’t have them in your possession and you won’t have to worry about Obama needing to change the laws for you. I can only hope Obama has better things on his agenda than creating more race friendly cocaine laws. The laws are not racist, they are meant to deter people from doing drugs. Does anyone else think this is ridiculous or am I alone?

-The argument against crack cocaine penalties being steeper than powder cocaine is that powdered cocaine is a “white drug” because it is more expensive. Crack cocaine is cheaper, yet more potent, so it is used more by low income people.
to wash- i do understand how the consitution works..and the consitution has nothing to do with crack cocaine. These are state statutes enforced by state and local law enforcement.
to jesus- I can only hope you aren’t speaking to me as “Pork Chop.” If you are though, please feel free to point out any spelling errors I might have made. Also, I am not a male. I am not a racist. I surely wouldn’t be considered low income. In addition, I probably had a higher GPA than you did and went to a better college. I am not trying to be racist in any way. I was simply trying to figure out if this notion of crack cocaine laws being an election position was actually something other people had heard and believed. Thank you.
to jesus- I never meant to be racist in any way. Someone approached me with that opinion and I was simply looking into it more. Your user name is Jesus Hussien Christ..please don’t attack me about being racist and offending people while you have that screen name. It is not appropriate, however cynical it may be meant to be. My last and final question to you is this: Can I be a racist and be black at the same time? Suprisingly, yes I am black and I am a republican. Sorry to damage your tirade against my racist ways.
And yes, I do go to the University of South Carolina Law School. It is odd to me that you call me a racist, etc. yet you cut down everything about me.
and to coleman- each state has its own cocaine laws. If you feel so strongly about it go to your representative. Obama can’t do anything about it, sorry. Possession of cocaine base is a state statute. That is why I brought it up. I found it funny that someone thought Obama could change state laws for them. He can’t. Also, drugs are illegal. The best way to avoid these “racist laws” is to not use drugs. It is as simple as that.
I look like Ann Coulter, huh? Maybe with black hair and an incredibly dark tan. Sorry to disappoint you.
