Novel. So far, so good?

Question by Jenn: Novel. So far, so good?
So I started writing this novel. It’s just the first paragraph, or the preface. This is not based on true events or anything, it’s completely fiction, haha. I just wanted your opinions so far. So here it is, let me know what you guys thinkk.

Have you ever felt like everything in your life was completely out of control? So out of control that the only way you knew how to fix things was to do something most would consider dangerous, scary, insane. Like it’s the only way to add control into your life. You can control when you start, when you stop, when you do it. It’s all your choice. Or at least that’s what I thought. No, I’m not talking about binge eating, or crash dieting, or even an eating disorder. Oh no, what I got myself into was much worse, worse than the initial reason I started. And by the time I realized this it was already too late. I was already in a hole I couldn’t dig myself out of, a huge hole. A hole fifty feet deep that without proper help I would be stuck there forever. And it took me so long to reach out to that hand that would pull me out. Hello, my name is Jayelle and I was a Cocaine addict. Yes, Cocaine as in Crack, Coke, Rock. Whatever you want to call it, I was addicted and there was no way out.
The “Hello my name is Jayelle…” part is suposed to be like a confession like they do at support groups, or rehab or something. The main character is confessing to the reader her addiction like she were at a suport group.

I really, really liked it up until the ‘Hello, my name is Jayelle’ part, which I though weakened it a little bit. But I thought the rest of it was great as a preface. It’s interesting, and grips the readers attention. A really good beginning
