News Update: Hawaiian Man Sues Maker of Lineage II Video Game; Claims he is Addicted

Craig Smallwood of Hawaii is suing over video game withdrawal. Smallwood alleges that he is “psychologically dependent and addicted” to privately-held NCsoft’s video game, Lineage II. The court did not throw out Smallwood’s “gross negligence” claim, in which he says NCsoft was negligent because the company knew of the dangers of video game dependence and addiction; the court has, however, thrown out several of Smallwood’s other claims. Smallwood claims that he plays Lineage II for up to nine hours per day.
