I’ve been avidly involved in women’s prison ministry, and have seen God transform inmates from the inside out. sadly, although God gives them a new heart and a new mind, the scars from needle abuse and meth addiction can sometimes be such a detrimental reminder of the life they’ve led. This song came out of me and i just knew instantly who it was for. It was a note of encouragement saying that the scars we have after we accept Christ aren’t marks of shame, they are precious reminders of all we are free from. And that message goes far past physical marks. Childhood abuse memories, loss of a loved one, so many scars our hearts carry don’t have to be symbols of hurt, but beacons of the hope we have.
